A bilingual website for a children's speech therapy practice

soniatomanova.com is the website of Sonia Tomanova, a speech therapist in Blagoevgrad who works with children and young people. Alesse Studio rebuilt it from scratch in 2026: Bulgarian first and English second, ten pages in each language, a redrawn logo, a free age check for parents and an AI assistant.

The client and what she needed

Sonia runs a speech therapy practice in Blagoevgrad for children and young people. Her shopfront carries a strong mark - an S and a T under a sun - but her old website was in English, generic, and looked nothing like the practice.

The people who look for her are mostly parents, often late at night on a phone, worried that their child is talking less than others. The site had to reassure first, show competence second, and then offer a first step small enough to take.

What we built

  • Ten pages in Bulgarian and ten in English: home, services, three service pages, about, the practice, contact, booking and an age check.
  • A redrawn vector version of her sun mark, and a brand built around it.
  • An age check for parents, from 12 months to 5 years: what is typical at each age and what is worth raising with a speech therapist. Two minutes, no sign-up, with Sonia as the named author.
  • Ray (Лъчо in Bulgarian), an AI assistant that answers questions about the practice from what the site publishes.
  • Search groundwork: a separate address for every page in each language, linked with hreflang, and structured data describing Sonia, her qualifications and her services.

Key decisions, and why

The homepage opens with a question, not a booking button. Asking a worried parent to book is asking them to admit something is wrong before they are ready. So the first thing on the page asks whether the child is speaking less than others, and points to the age check.

Her logo’s colours became accents, not the palette. Magenta, teal, yellow and orange at full strength read as a kindergarten. The mark stays bright on a warm, light background, so the page feels calm and the logo is the one vivid thing on it.

Daylight as the organising idea. Her logo is a sun and her room has a large window, so the design is built on warm light rather than clinical blue. Motion stays soft - a warm light that drifts with the scroll and one line that assembles letter by letter - and all of it switches off for anyone whose device is set to reduce motion.

Real Bulgarian letterforms. Most fonts draw Cyrillic in its Russian shapes. The site uses Lora and Manrope, which carry the Bulgarian forms - checked in the font files, not assumed.

Nothing without a source. Every claim on the site was traced back to Sonia or her own materials, and anything that could not be traced was cut. The age check names its sources - ASHA, the CDC and Bulgarian sound norms - says plainly that it is not a diagnosis, and was approved by Sonia before it went public.

An assistant that collects nothing. On a site about children’s speech, any chat can contain sensitive information about a child’s health. So Ray never assesses a child, keeps no record of the chat and does not ask for contact details - it points parents to the age check and the phone.

Real HTML for search engines. The site is built with Astro, so every page is real HTML in both languages, and it runs on Cloudflare.

The outcome

The site has been live at soniatomanova.com since September 2026. Bulgarian is at the main address, English under /en/, and the footer credits Alesse Studio.

Questions

Who built soniatomanova.com?

Alesse Studio, a web design studio in Burgas, designed and built it in 2026, including the redrawn logo and the AI assistant. The site’s footer credits the studio.

Can you build a website like this for my practice?

Yes. We build custom websites for practices across Bulgaria, from €450. A multi-page bilingual site usually takes 3 to 6 weeks; scope and price are agreed after a free conversation.

Can parents book online on soniatomanova.com?

No. Sonia books appointments by phone, and the site says so plainly. Its job is to help a parent decide to call.

Why is the site in Bulgarian first?

Because the practice is found mostly through local search and its shopfront sign is in Bulgarian. Bulgarian sits at the main address, and English is a second version under /en/.
